The misjudgment of China by the United States is the root cause of the current deterioration in Sino-US relations and an important factor in determining the final outcome of the Sino-US competition.
Some of the "misjudgments" made by the United States against China are due to ignorance, while others are intended to "define" China as an intentional villain. Some people in the United States very much hope that today's Sino-US competition will return to the past Cold War framework of the US-Soviet competition, because that is their comfort zone.
