Okay, let's be real. Not everything obeys the "Chekov's Gun" rule. It should, but it doesn't. Sometimes there isn't an in-story reason for why there's something in a novel. Sometimes it's an Easter Egg, an in-joke, or something only your mother will notice. These are the tiny details that can confuse and enchant readers in equal measure.
