Disney and Hollywood have treated us to multiple stories about rags to riches; about how a young, unseen girl or boy persevered through adversity and rose to a place of praise and admiration. They not only want to enjoy a palace, fancy clothes, and being served, but usually at the root of this is the desire to be respected, loved, adored.
