Choosing a person to spend the rest of your life with and build a family with is one of the most if not THE MOST important decision you will ever make. I have worked with many couples who are in marriages and relationships for the wrong reasons and feel like they need to stay because of the commitment. Before you even make that commitment, this episode has some MAJOR wisdom drops for you especially if you are having doubts or are hoping that things will change after getting married or having kids (maybe it will, but your relationship should have a safe foundation before this major commitment).
Here are some reflection questions to consider and journal about after the episode:
We always want to be that person who does not judge and the person that has compassion, I want to reassure you that you get to still be that person but you also get to make decisions that feel in alignment with the life you desire to build with someone and that does not make you a bad partner nor should you feel guilty about wha you want just because it is different than the average, This is one of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make, you get to be selfish and selective!
3. Is this person someone you fully accept and love unconditionally, or do you tolerate and justify because you love them? (There is a difference)
The difference between fully accepting someone and tolerating :
Full acceptance— seeing the beauty and good and not so good and you love them anyway
Tolerance— Also seeing the good and bad, but feeling that era in your soul and you know you wouldn’t be in this situation if it wasn’t for this commitment
We are sold this old paradigm that marriage is hard, and yes relationships have deep challenges— but the difference is true marriage is wanting to be there instead of staying just because of the commitment or feeling trapped or trauma bonded.
You get to have compassion for yourself especially when you may be in love with someone when you know they may not be the right person.
Committing to self-trust, and honouring yourself. You get to be selfish you are not wrong for this.
It gets to be okay if you want something different and want better for yourself, and it gets to be okay if you decide to stay if that is actually in true alignment with your love destiny. Deep down you already know.
Don’t settle, you do not have to, nor does God/The Universe want you to— raise your standards instead and claim your worth.
You are creating a new paradigm and paving a new pathway for you love story. You get to have the love you desire. IT GETS TO HAPPEN FOR YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE INNATELY WORTHY OF BEING LOVED AND GENUINELY BEING IN LOVE, HEALTHILY IN LOVE!
