#10: George Bullard – World Record Breaking Polar Explorer

Listen Later

George Bullard is a British endurance athlete, explorer and adventurer and to date has completed over 2,000 miles on foot in the polar regions.

In 2008 at the age of 19, George Bullard and Alex Hibbert completed the world's longest fully unsupported polar journey - making a 1,374 mile return crossing of the Greenland Icecap in 113 days.

On their return journey, they managed to lose two of their food depots, that had been stored in the ice for over 100 days. This left them to survive on 2.5 flapjacks per day for the last 10 days.

To date, George has completed 14 expeditions around the world and guided over 300 people.

Some of these expeditions include,

* Relay swim across the English Channel
* Trans Atlantic yacht race (2,796 nautical miles) - from Newport, Rhode Island to the British Isle of Wight
* Riding 2,300 miles from England to the Greek Island of Zakynthos
