Not Your Average GOAT

10. Healing from Suicide Loss One Layer at a Time with Braelyn Rasco (Part 2)

Listen Later

We’re back with part 2 of Braelyn (Brae) Rasco’s  inspiring story! If you haven’t already, head over to part 1 now to give it a listen.
In the second half of this conversation, Brae shares what life was like in the months leading up to her mother’s suicide, including the emotional rollercoaster the day of her mom’s passing; we explore the unique grieving stages suicide survivors experience, as well as Brae’s 12+ year healing journey going from angry and confused to happy and confident; and talk about the unsettling lack of support and immense shame that those on the other side of suicide receive from outsiders.
Then, we dive into Brae’s own neuro divergence and struggle with mental health, including anxiety and ADHD; shed light on the plethora of misconceptions that exist around these conditions; and talk about the incredible power of a “keep going” mindset and the importance of self-empathy.
