10. HELP! I'm in a slump. 5 ways I recognize I'm not my highest self

Listen Later

In this episode, Emily talks about her biggest distractions and how recognizing them got her out of a slump and onto a longterm recovery of chasing her highest self. Habits alone will never create change, but the desire to want more for yourself sure will. Read 10 mental health practices from Emily below!

Some of my favorite mental health practices

  1. Talking to myself out loud (idk about you but my mind is constantly on 100. I need to release my thoughts, hype myself up, sing, talk to my dog, etc. Talking alone makes me treat myself like a friend)

  2. Journaling (brain dumps, goals, fears, to my future self, visions for the future, healthy habits, financial goals)

  3. Morning and night routines (stretch, read, skin care, podcast, favorite snack, etc)

  4. Silence (Something I need to work on for sure. Silence is where I stop the chaos, lean in, and can hear my spirit guides talk. I don’t know what their voice sounds like or anything lol…but I clearly understand the message(s) they are telling me. Try meditation sometime…even if it’s only 5mins of silence)

  5. Positive affirmations about self and past successes (try the doorway trick…every time you walk through a door way, tell yourself a compliment….you’ll soon realize how often you walk through doorways BUT you’ll be reminded to encourage yourself…which slowly builds up your confidence and trust)

  6. Love tangents (declaring all the things I love about me and the future woman I love and am working every day to become. These are POWERFUL)

  7. Cooking/cleaning/relaxing (staying in and taking care of these things is so important. We tend to constantly feel the need to surround ourselves with others and things to do…but being home (alone) is so important to your mental health)

  8. Playing with my pup (not much needs to be said here)

  9. Recording my podcast (everyone should have a creative outlet of some sort to let the mind decompress/release and work through any emotions, thoughts or feelings)

  10. Check in on value alignments (doing this is so helpful!!! What do you value most in life? And is your life a reflection of that? Example: If you value family…have you checked in on them lately)
