In 1970, Rock Creek Police Chief Robert Hamrick was pursuing a speeding car when his cruiser went off the isolated dirt road and struck a tree. Though it looked like a car accident, the fact that his revolver and night stick were missing and his skull was crushed when no car windows were broken had many thinking it was the murderous act of a local street gang.
