The topic for today is a volleyball Q&A! Diving into volleyball specific programming, on-court and strength training questions!
Questions:
1) I’m currently 3 weeks into your EZ vert program and not finding the speed/plyo days particularly hard. I’m following all rest times and the workouts are only taking me about 40 minutes. Am I doing something wrong?
2) How do I get better at diving?
3) I’ve been doing the university/college periodization throughout the summer and loving it. I just started the first in-season phase and noticed a lot of weird lunging variations. I know you’re a big strength guy but I find I can’t load these exercises the way I was loading Bulgarian splits squats in the off-season, is that ok?
4) Back squats hurt my back, can I do something else?
5) I’m doing the 17U periodization and have noticed a lot of slow tempos (eccentrics/isometrics), I thought volleyball players needed to train fast? Just curious.
