Episode 100 – Introducing Bourbon & Branches & no BS

Dee:  Welcome to the debut episode of the podcast, Bourbon & Branches & no BS.   I’m Dee Daniels,  sort of your Butler here for the fantastic debut episode. And the owner of the mansion is also here. Let’s introduce ourselves.
Suzy:  All right, we’ll technically, I’m not the owner of the mansion, actually, my amazing husband Todd is the owner of the mansion. He just allows me to come here and do this, so that I’m not bored in life
Laughing
But I am Suzy Woollam and I am the face and the voice behind The Scenter of Town in downtown Fredericksburg Virginia  woohoo go Fredericksburg.
Dee:  We’re gonna talk about so many things. And of course, we want to introduce everyone to what you do and your background. And why when they come into meet, you, they’re going to have an experience.
Suzy:  That’s so sweet …an experience. I think it’s an experience. I love meeting everybody that comes into see me.  So I have The Scenter of Town,  here in downtown Fredericksburg, but I have all sorts of expensive initials that go behind my name, that don’t go anywhere near toward buying me a cup of coffee every day.   I am a Traditional Naturopath, . I am a Board Certified Licensed Massage Therapist, I am a Reiki Master/Teacher, I am a Clinical Aromatherapist, I am an End of Life Doula and an all-around really nice guy
Dee:  I like that. Not only are you going to get fantastic information on this podcast. But you have a great mission for this podcast.
Suzy:  It’s very important to me. And, you know, one of the things that, that I tell everybody who comes in here to see me is never asked me a question that you don’t want an answer to.   I am blatantly honest at all levels, which some people don’t want. I am very quick to tell people who are looking for a therapist that will just hold their hand and pat their back and say, “there there” that they should find somebody else, and I will certainly help them find somebody else.  My job here is to be open and honest, and answer the tough questions that most people don’t want to answer people are looking for quick fix in many situations, and that’s not what we do here.
Dee:  So I love that you have described everything here is a full service, education-based integrative wellness center. What does integrative medicine mean to you.
Suzy:  Integrative Medicine means to me that what we are doing here is where maybe in the past people thought of massage, or reflexology, or Reiki, or some of the services that we offer here as alternative or complimentary… over the last, maybe ten fifteen years, they really have become integrative with what people think of as traditional services,  traditional medical treatment. So you may be seeing an oncologist for your cancer treatment, but he may also refer you here for massage or reflexology. You may be seeing a nutritionist for a condition that you have going on, and they may refer you here to get the best quality supplements that you can to help make sure that you’re actually getting some nutrition in your body. So integrative is just combining many different types of therapy, into one and all of your healthcare practitioners working as a team to make sure that you lead the best. Life that you can
Dee:  When you are dealing with people every single day, I’ve seen you firsthand do this. When people walk in, and they have questions, and they have a story to tell, and they have a background and they have concerns and some of them are in some really hard times in ...
