Five local Native tribes wanted to rebury the man they honored as an ancestor and dubbed the Ancient One. The federal authorities concurred, but eight anthropologists and archaeologists filed a lawsuit to get access to the skeleton, popularly known as Kennewick Man, so they could do research on it.
