1010 WINS Murrow Awards Submission for Best Newscast: Day after Twin Parks Fire

The Twin Parks Fire is one of the deadliest fires in the history of New York City. Over 60 people were injured, 13 critically at the time, and 17 people died, all ranging in ages from eight to 60.

It was a fire that was allowed to do such great damage due to multiple structural issues, such as alarms that did not go off and self closing doors that did not work. It was a fire that happened in the shadow of low employment of firefighters that could've helped fight the blaze, and it was a fire that was foreshadowed by the poor conditions of preventative measures in the building.

1010 WINS did not just cover the fire, but the news around it. What was the biggest contributing factor to the number of casualties? Which organization should shoulder the blame?
