Jeremiah 28:1-9; Philippians 3:4-14; Matthew 10:34-42

This is one of the hardest things Jesus ever said. It sounds like Jesus is saying that we cannot love anything but Him, or at least we cannot love anything as much as we love Him. Is Jesus really things demanding and insecure? Of course not. In order to understand what Jesus is saying we need a paradigm shift. Jesus is not setting up a new measuring stick, but a new way to look at the world. When you make this shift, Jesus’ saying not only makes sense, but makes loving father and mother easier.
