Emily Post was an American writer and expert on proper social behavior. With enthusiastic, considerate prose, Post’s work showed the public that etiquette is more than seemingly arbitrary mannerisms and routine. 

 

To Post, social conventions were an opportunity to demonstrate our capacity for consideration, respect, and honesty as human beings.
