103. The Discovery of Penicillin (1928)

In 1941, they began clinical trials on humans and found that penicillin was an effective treatment for bacterial infections. The drug was released for public use in 1943 and was a great success. It was used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections, including streptococcal infections, pneumonia, and gonorrhea.
