Known for such films as Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, in his later years he wrote several books starting with the autobiographical Kiss Me Like a Stranger. He wrote such works of fiction as My French Whore, The Woman Who Wouldn’t and Something To Remember You By.
