Workshop

We will continue our character studies unit. The kids will follow a character’s journey by:

Noticing that stories are shaped like mountains and we can watch characters go up and down, expecting characters to face and react to trouble, noticing the roles of secondary characters and noticing the role of illustrations in stories.

Writer’s

Workshop

The students will publish their first literary essay about the story, Each Kindness by Jacqueline Woodson.

Math

What happened to math class?

The students will continue our exploration of division specifically looking at how division and multiplication are related through fact families and properties.

Social

Studies

We’ll review the structure of the federal government looking at the three branches of government and the role of each branch.

Science

The kids will continue keeping track of the changes that the caterpillars are undergoing and we will continue to study the life cycle of butterflies.
