THE NEW HEALTH CLUB

🍄#106 Your Sunday Morning Dose. This week in Psychedelics & Julie Holland on the podcast!

Listen Later

Hi! I hope this message finds you all doing well and you can enjoy the holiday!

This week was another great week for the New Health Club. I was a part of the Plant Medicine Week in Malta where I was able to host a few panels and meet with many new potential allies and supporters of psychedelic medicine. Stay tuned for more info!

I would love to update you on the podcast too!

Moving forward we will be coming to you on a monthly basis. We made this decision as we felt this would be the most efficient way to bring you the most relevant, fascinating, and interesting people in the psychedelic field today. You can expect more incredible guests…

Also, The New Health Club will now start to bring psychedelics to the workplace. Yes, you heard it right! We are working on a model to bring psychedelic coaching to the C-Level and as a benefit to employees. For more information on this new initiative keep reading to see about our exciting new workshop that will be happening in London at the PSYCH Symposium.

THIS WEEK’S PODCAST!

It should come as no surprise that I am a really big fan of Dr. Julie Holland, and we were finally able to get our schedules aligned to have her on the show! Dr. Holland is an American psychopharmacologist, psychiatrist, and author. She is the author of five books, including Moody Bitches, Good Chemistry, (which are a few of my favorites) She also wrote “Weekends at Bellevue: Nine Years on the Night Shift at the Psych ER”, a memoir documenting her experience as the weekend head of the psychiatric emergency room at Bellevue Hospital in New York City.

In addition to her prolific writing, she has been an important advocate for the appropriate use of consciousness-expanding substances as part of mental health treatment, as well as a medical monitor for MAPS studies, which involve, in part, developing psychedelics into prescription medication. Dr. Holland sits on a few advisory boards, most notably Palo Santo. She is one of the most inspiring people in the space.

In spite of all of her professional accomplishments, what do I like about Julie? She is non-judgemental, is a visionary in seeing the big picture in the psychedelic renaissance, and as an interviewee a lot of fun to talk to! Please enjoy and as always we would love to hear your feedback about this conversation!

HERE ARE OUR NEWS FOR THE WEEK!

Evidence continues to emerge that psilocybin might be an effective treatment for depression.

Here are some of the latest news on the use of magic mushrooms for the treatment of mental illness. With so much happening in the space and at breakneck speed here are some of the more noticeable articles that caught our eye.

This article will be a great read for the easter (and passover) holidays! One of our favorites here at TNHC Dr. Robin Carhart Harris, now at UC San Francisco and the Imperial College London presented a new study that demonstrated….

“Psilocybin fosters greater connections between different regions of the brain in depressed people, freeing them up from long-held patterns of rumination and excessive self-focus, according to a new study by scientists at UC San Francisco and Imperial College London.”

You know there is a paradigm shift when the New York Times is featuring psychedelics on their front pages!

Here is more in the next level of the mushroom news:

And last but not least this one is for all of you who have been struggling to get their nightly ZZZ’s. (If you are like me you are going to be following this development closely!)
