1099’s are going to be here before you know. We’re going to be issuing them out to our subcontractors. Make sure now that you have a W-9 filled out that has their name, address, Social Security or federal ID number, make sure that information is correct because the IRS does charge a penalty or charge a fine if you don’t file 1099. If they’re filed incorrectly and you can’t justify it, make sure you have the information now before the crazy season starts, and then it’s a lot harder to track it down. My suggestion is to never give someone a check without them completing a W-9 form if they’re a subcontractor, call me at 615-367-0819.
