Death seems to be one of those events of life that brings with it change, to say the least, and often crises!  Jacob and Joseph have both died, so the natural question becomes, "Now what?"

In theological terms, the story of Joseph is all about God’s sovereignty.  However… do we understand God’s working in the midst of history to be “providential control” or “providential care.”
Is God micro-managing the affairs of your life…does God cause everything to happen at a specific time and place… is God controlling every aspect of our life? OR? Is God there – with a plan and purpose – giving us freedom to respond to his love, yet also giving us the freedom to reject and say no?  That is the big question we will examine this summer by means of the story of Joseph.
