Recalculating: Following the Voice of the Holy Spirit

John 14:15–21

In this message, Paul Mulroney explores Jesus’ promise of the Holy Spirit in John 14 and what it means to live a Spirit-led life between Easter and Pentecost.

Using the familiar imagery of maps, GPS navigation, and missed turns, this sermon reminds us that God has not left us to navigate life alone. Jesus promises the Holy Spirit as our Counsellor, Guide, Advocate, and Comforter — the One who leads us into truth and continually points us toward Christ.

This message explores:

  • What Jesus meant by “If you love me, obey my commands”
  • The role of the Holy Spirit as our Counsellor and Guide
  • How to recognise the voice of God in everyday life
  • The difference between condemnation and conviction
  • God’s grace when we miss the turn
  • What it means to live led by the Spirit rather than by fear or confusion

Just as a GPS recalculates when we take a wrong turn, God’s grace continually invites us back onto the path of life. The Holy Spirit not only gives direction — He reminds us that we are not abandoned, not orphaned, and never alone.
