Sermon Notes

Matthew 11:25-30
1. Jesus is thankful for Godʼs lordship.
Vs. 25 “I thank you Father, Lord of heaven and earth”

2. Jesus is thankful for Godʼs grace on people.
Vs. 25 “and have revealed them to babes”
Grace: Giving someone something they do not deserve (salvation)
Mercy: Withholding something someone does deserve (judgment)
Heb 4:15-16

3. Jesus is thankful for your pursuit of Him.
Vs. 28 “Come to Me, all you who are labor, and are heavy laden”
Labor implies the burdens we take upon ourselves and heavy
laden implies the burdens others put upon us.
 

"Come; he drives none away; he calls them to himself. His favorite
word is 'Come.' Not, go to Moses - 'Come unto me.' To Jesus
himself we must come, by a personal trust. Not to doctrine,
ordinance, nor ministry are we to come first; but to the personal
Savior." -Spurgeon

Rev. 3:17
4. Jesus is thankful when your rest proclaims the greatness of
His salvation.
Vs. 29 “and you will find rest for your souls”
"Thou has made us for thyself, O Lord, and our heart is restless
until if finds its rest in thee.” -St Augustine
Jer 6:16
