Arnold Academy

❓[11-06] I’ve just been replaced, should I move on or prove my worth?

Listen Later

Ted Husband: I lost my role as lead editor on my first feature film due to logistics and creative challenges. Is it worth continuing to contribute even after being replaced?

  • Replacements of editors are common for “fresh eyes,” not always lack of skill.
  • The director’s vision may be different from the editor’s cut, don’t take it personally.
  • Consider moving on and focus on things that align with your values or priorities.
  • Maintain professionalism and grace to keep future opportunities open.
  • Moving forward (given the time and space), create two versions of your cut: one faithful to what they wrote, and one your own version, to show both intention and creative solutions.
