🔥[11-25] How to get useful testimonials from clients without asking for a testimonial

Listen Later

Leonardo Oliveira: I want to ask my clients for testimonials, but I want to know what is the best way to ask for it. I want to avoid the generic "I really liked his work" comment and actually get something concrete.

  • Spot unsolicited praise in real conversations and capture it instantly so it becomes an authentic, story-driven testimonial.
  • Never ask for a testimonial. Ask for brief stories and specific questions so people naturally reveal the emotional truth of what it was like to work with you:
  • Where were you before we collaborated and why do you need to work with me?
  • How has my work or service become valuable to you?
  • What result did you get by working with me?
  • Draft the testimonial based on their responses and write it in a way that your potential client sees themselves in those testimonials.
  • When time has passed, reconnect through a short conversation so you can revive the feelings, details, and results that make a testimonial resonate.
  • Lead with context by saying you’re updating your website and want to share real stories, then shape their answers into a clear narrative and send it back for approval.
  • Focus on emotion and transformation so future clients feel something, recognize their own struggles, and instantly think “this is me” before they ever evaluate your skills.
