 The Steamship Pacific, pulled out of it's retirement of the mudflats of San Francisco during the Cassiar Gold Rush, was en route from Victoria, British Columbia to San Francisco when she  collided with the S/V Orpheus about thirty miles south of Cape Flattery off the coast of Washington Territory on the night of November 4th, 1875.
What happens next would take what could be more than 300 lives, with only two men surviving the Catastrophe of the Steamer Pacific.
