11: Lessons from Behind the Glass | Allyson Tufts

Listen Later

“[The parents] look at all these kids doing all these clinics, doing all these extra things, and thinking, this is what I have to do. If I’m going to put my child through this sport, I need all this money to do the extra.”

Author Allyson Tufts has done a fantastic job in articulating the highs and lows of being a parent to a child athlete in her debut novel Lessons From Behind the Glass. Through the anxiety-ridden experiences of watching her children navigate their respective sports, Allyson has shared her stories in a way that is easily accessible, comforting, and entertaining to any athletic parent. Allyson joined us to discuss the impact of the adults in youth sports, whether it be parents or coaches, checking their egos at the door and asking for their kids’ advice every once in a while.
