11. Madhushala - Story of name "Harivansh Rai" | कहानी हरिवंश राय नाम की, मधुशाला

In the previous episode, we discussed what is Marsiya, when it's read and why are we talking about it in Madhushala. There was also a story of Lucknow's adab, naaz and nakhara. Today we are talking about the origin of Bachchan's first name - Harivansh Rai, and also a story of him facing problems for being a Kayasth.
पिछले अंक में हमने बात की थी कि मर्सिया क्या होता है, कब पढ़ा जाता है और मधुशाला में हम उसकी बात क्यों कर रहे हैं, और एक कहानी सुनी थी लखनऊ के अदब, नाज और नखरों की – आज बात करते हैं कुछ बच्चन जी के बचपन की और उनका नाम हरिवंश राय कैसे आया।
आज करे परहेज़ जगत, पर, कल पीनी होगी हाला, आज करे इन्कार जगत पर कल पीना होगा प्याला,
होने दो पैदा मद का महमूद जगत में कोई, फिर, जहाँ अभी हैं मंदिर मस्जिद वहाँ बनेगी मधुशाला (53)
And -
दुतकारा मस्जिद ने मुझको कहकर है पीनेवाला, ठुकराया ठाकुरद्वारे ने देख हथेली पर प्याला,
कहाँ ठिकाना मिलता जग में भला अभागे काफिर को? शरणस्थल बनकर न मुझे यदि अपना लेती मधुशाला (46)
