In the second episode of our min-series, The People Speak, I cover a speech by Reconstruction era state legislator, Henry McNeal Turner. Turner was expelled from the Georgia state legislature simply because he was an African-American. Turner asks the question that has yet to be resolved in the 148 years since his expulsion and proves to be equally relevant in light of the injustice that occurred this week in Minneapolis: "Am I a man? If I am such, I claim the rights of a man."
