last night
i dreamt
my closet
was full of unrealistic
animal
costumes
bears
rats
rabbits
squirrels
and
a porcupine
they wore
tophats
and vests
the bear had a watchchain
i wore them everyday
it was both
liberating
and terrifying
like a mummer
on the solstice
i wanted it to be true

once again
when night falls
in my head
i’d like to know
that i know nothing
