What if we could live in harmony with land, community, and business by weaving the concept of ecosystems into every relationship we nurture? This week, we welcome Yaya Rivera to the Empowered Curiosity Podcast, who shares her inspiring journey of cultivating life on a homestead called Río Cósmico. Drawing from Taino cosmology and her European roots, Yaya speaks about her arrival to Río Cósmico and how being in relationship with this land has informed her practices that ranges from how she mothers to how she runs her business.
Together, we delve into the moral challenges of quantifying resources exchanged between people and land and how we can balance these effects with regenerative practices. Those practices begin with our own bodies. We talk about the effects of dopamine and adrenaline on productivity and the need to be mindful of the balance between effort and reward. We also share insights into embracing symptoms as communication from our bodies that we can use as a compass to point us towards alignment.

Yaya Erin Rivera is a multicultural folk medicine practitioner, artist and mother specialising in sacred plant medicines for empowered navigation of the Earthwalk Initiation. She is the land steward at Río Cósmico homestead, host of the Río Cósmico podcast, and the primary facilitator of the Medicine Mandala Folk Medicine Apprenticeship & Green Witch Initiation Journey.
