Spend some time reflecting and discussing the text from today’s message. Here are some questions to consider.

• Read this passage along with the preceding parable in 19:11-27. Identify how the parable relates to the passage we read today.

• The disciples who wave palm branches and welcome Jesus will soon change their perspective (think about the arrest and crucifixion). What changes between the Triumphal Entry and the arrest of Jesus? Remember, this happens in less than a week.

• What were the possible motivations of the disciples who welcomed Jesus? How would those motivations change when Jesus was arrested?

• What motivates us for Jesus? The excitement of his royal entry or the call to follow him, even unto death? How can these two different views of Jesus drastically affect our understanding of discipleship?
