It's tough to realize that you are dependent on your corporate engineering gig. Real growth, either to top positions or outside of the structure of a large company, requires none of the skills that you've needed to develop to become a top engineer. Each day, I deliver quick monologue about what mindset, attitude, and skill shifts that are necessary to really be an inspiring person.
