Lana and Steph — two passionate recruiters — discuss the changing recruiting landscape, why we need to take the shame out of getting fired, and designing a life you love based on whatever circumstances you are in. Ten years ago, when Lana began her career in recruiting, things worked a little differently. Networking was done face-to-face, or “belly-to-belly”, and you were expected to get to know candidates beyond the job description. Lana and Steph continue to love their work, and are committed to keeping candidate searches human. Lana has made a practice of embracing change, and she reflects on what candidates need to consider in the current economic landscape during COVID-19: “There will be change. Some of it you can control, and some of it you can’t. Now is an opportunity to get really clear on what matters to you — whether you are in the right role, or with the right company, or with the right team. Whether or not you want to shift careers entirely… Now is the time to embrace all of these changes, and these thoughts, and be really raw and honest with yourself”.
