‘TRAILER PARK!
‘Judas and the Black Messiah’ - Our first Trailer off the Park this week is a historical take on the famed Black Panther Party of the ’60s and ’70s. The story follows Chairman of the party Fred Hampton and his rising and uplifting legend of trying to bring about change in America. Throughout this tale, it tells of a foot soldier of his William O’Neil and how he gets cornered by the FBI to be an informant for them and to bring down Hampton and the Entire Black Panther organization. With an incredible cast, this film brings to light a tense battle and standoff between races and authority and still feels as relevant today as it would have back in the ’70s. Streaming into theatres like the tears of a moved woman, 2021.
‘I’m Thinking of Ending Things’ - Well isn’t Jesse Plemons the star of trailer park this week?! No complaints here! But anyway, From academy award-winning screenwriter Charlie Kaufman comes this drama/Thriller about a young woman traveling to meet her boyfriend's parents for the first time. The running narration through her head throughout the trailer keeps coming to the same thought ‘I’m thinking of ending things’ and it is unclear if she means her relationship or her life. But what follows once she arrives at her new in-law's house is as confusing as that question with Toni Collette and David Thewlis are strikingly bizarre. From hallucinations to strange sounds to creepy diner waitresses, this story is as much of a mind fuck as expected from Writer/Director Kaufman. Shaking its way onto Netflix like a dog shaking for the rest of the time, September 4th.
‘Ratched’ - From the Creators of American Horror Story and starring longtime screen queen of the show Sara Paulson should give you an indication of what to expect in this brand new Netflix series. This is an original origin story set in the ’60s of the iconic character of ‘Nurse Mildred Ratched’ from the acclaimed film ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest’. Set in a mental hospital, Nurse Ratched picks up a job as a nurse (obviously), trying her best to ‘help’ those in need. But it seems as if the patients are the least of her trouble as she goes about her business dealing with snarky fellow nurses, incompetent service station workers, and the heads of the hospital regretting hiring her. So many strange events in this trailer, it’s hard to grasp what is what and where the story will go but one thing is for sure, it’s going to be fucked up! Appearing onto Netflix like a name being written on a peach, September 18.
‘Get Duked!’ - Ahhhh, an Amazon Original movie coming our way to deliver the goods! This trailer tells of four young cities ‘thugs’ tasked with orienteering their way through the Scottish highlands, as sort of a team-building exercise. Trudging through the unknown lands they come across soggy paths, dangerous trenches, and muddy waters but the last thing they expected to come across was a group of wealthy dame hunters. The only problem is, THEY are the game being hunted! Now the four misfits must fight for survival against the crazed madmen (led by Eddie Izzard) and get super-duper high while doing it. Exploding onto Amazon, not like a homemade bomb thrown over a hillside, August 28!
‘I Am Woman’ - ARE YOU REDDY?! ARE YOU HELEN REDDY?! Obviously not but SHE is! This trailer tells the story of Australian born Singer/Songwriter/Activist Helen Reddy and her journey through the tumultuous waters of the American Music industry in the 1970s. Struggling to get through the thick, male skulls that controlled the music industry, she managed to start a movement of empowerment and equal opportunity among her peers and bosses, becoming a ridiculously successful recording artist and being fondly known as the queen of pop in the ’70s. With a list of accolades longer than a lot of more recognizable names of the era, this Hollywood-ised’ telling of her story is sure to leave an impact. Crashing onto Stan like a plane into a building,
