One of the toughest things about being in the mid-level of a company is that your success depends on your ability to collaborate with people and teams that you don't directly manage. It's not enough to just do your work well. You have to be able to influence without authority to deliver together. 

Being able to hold people accountable without being a jerk is an advanced communication skill and critical to collaborative work. In this episode, Kristy shares why she lets the person closest to the work name the deadline whenever possible and why in some situations a less assertive approach could make sense.
