Thank you for calling GIH where we instigate growth one call at a time where we utilize antiquated technology to deliver 3-minute leadership lessons every day of the week!  This is message #117 and I am Aaron Havens.

Do yourself a favor and look up “the craziest strategy wins gold” women’s short track speed skating 1500m final.  Yang Jingru of China blasts out of the starting gate and passes all the other competitors.  She gets an entire lap ahead of them and then just lags behind to win.  It caused so much confusion the other competitors lost track of the number of laps and quit a lap too early.  Yan Jingru’s teammate kept racing and won 2nd.  Crazy.  

That’s it!  Break the normal today.  Sure it’s the Olympics.  Nobody every goes as fast as they can the first two laps… nah… that kind of speed is reserved for the final few laps… right?!  Well, Jingru totally flipped the script and wins a gold and essentially coached her teammate into a silver.  

That’s it!  Maybe it’s time to think different.  Act different.  Flip the script.  And as Stephen Carter has said… put those problems into a box that is labeled opportunity.  Attack one of your obstacles today with the fierce determination to go about it differently until you defeat it.  Nope, it doesn’t work every time.  Some obstacles just won’t be over come.  I bet though, by the end of today, if you take one small obstacle and turn it into a opportunity challenge you might like the results.  It’s that stupid saying that goes something like this…

Take those lemons and make lemonade.
