This week is a fiery conversation in more ways than one as I speak with author and former forest firefighter, Linda Strader. We talk about her decision to join a fire crew in the 1970's, the struggles she faced as one of the only women doing the job, and the struggles women in the profession still face (spoiler: the number of women fighting fires now are the same as 50 years ago). She shares stories of massive fires she worked in Arizona, the permafrost she sunk into in Alaska, and reinventing herself when injury took her out of the forest at the height of her career.
