On a day dedicated to the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we must reject the temptation to judge others by outward characteristics like race or ethnicity, and remember what St John Paul II taught us, that our true value lies in the Father’s love for us. True social transformation begins with the internal work of eliminating the judgment and discrimination hidden within our own hearts. By choosing to love every individual as a unique person rather than a category, we enact the only change that can truly heal the world.
Samuel 15:16-23 | Mark 2:18-22
Preached on the 17th of January, 2022, at the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City, Utah. Original recording edited for length.
