The guest in this episode is Prof. Dr. Achim Benditz. He is an orthopeadic doctor and surgeon with a specialty in tailbone pain. He lives and works in Germany and here he is head of Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery in a hospital and runs an orthopaedic spine clinic for two days per week. He saw around 4000 coccydynia patients and performed thousands of injections and over 300 tailbone surgeries. People come to see him for his expertise and treatments from all over Germany, and also more and more from all over Europe. Next to that he wrote over 90 scientific articles, of which several about tailbone pain.
In this episode he shares his knowledge and experience about tailbone pain, but also how he encountered quite some resistance among his medical colleagues to become a tailbone specialist and to get his papers about it published. Also we will dive deeper into what he hears from patients and the hardships they have gone through to finally find specialised help, or even just someone in the medical field that takes their them and their problems seriously and recognises it as an actual problem of the tailbone.
