Two mixed teams of six students from Churcher's College swam the English CHannel - from Dover to France -  in one hour relays.

They had intended to do this a year ago but conditions were so bad it wasn't possible. Another training year was needed.

Speaking to Mike Waddington, one of the swim leaders, Head of Art, Tim Strange, told us about the preparation, what you learn from the experience and the success of all the 16 to 18 year olds.

Preparation and training made the event a safe success and the students excelled themselves.

The successful swimmers also raised money for local charity Maddy’s Mark.
