Make Peas Not Beef

#12 - Circular and Sharing Economy, Food Waste and Fast Fashion feat. Sustainability Entrepreneur James Dong

Listen Later

James Dong is a ridiculously eloquent sustainability entrepreneur based in San Francisco. He is formerly a Management Consultant at Bain & Company, and now the founder of Last Minute Gear (www.lastmingear.com) - an equipment rental startup who is trying to get customers to NOT BUY (counterintuitive? πŸ€”). James is a firm believer of degrowth, and addressing existing problems with existing solutions.

In this episode, James will explain the concept of circular and sharing economy, what they are, and why they are the key drivers of environmental sustainability. In addition, we will address the massive commercial-level food waste brought on by the pandemic, fast fashion, look at several case studies including Uber, Lyft, AirBnb, H&M, Patagonia and scrutinize the perverse incentives that underpin all these fast economies, and what we can do about it.
