A mysterious invitation to spend Christmas at an English manor home may bring danger...and love?
England, 1851: When Clara Chapman receives an intriguing invitation to spend Christmas at an English manor home, she is hesitant yet feels compelled to attend - for if she remains the duration of the 12 day celebration, she is promised a sum of 1,000 pounds.
But is she walking into danger? It appears so, especially when she comes face to face with one of the other guests - her former fiancé, Benjamin Lane.
Imprisoned unjustly, Ben wants revenge on whoever stole his honor. When he's given the chance to gain his freedom, he jumps at it - and is faced with the anger of the woman he stood up at the altar. Brought together under mysterious circumstances, Clara and Ben discover that what they've been striving for isn't what ultimately matters.
What matters most is what Christmas is all about...love.

Not Preachy But A True and Capable Mystery!
For the non-religious -- do not be put off by it being noted as a religious mystery. It is not a preachy read but a true and capable mystery which delivers on the Christmas theme. Great job, Ms. Griep! Congrats on a start up mystery well done. Merry Christmas! Ah-h, it's so nice to be able to post that sentiment. :-)
Really enjoyed 12 Days at Bleakly Manor!
Engaging Victorian mystery that kept me reading until I finished! My first Michelle Griep book, with many more to follow! Loved Clara & Ben's story despite previous hardships, the other strange and unusual characters invited to Bleakly Manor & the mystery surrounding why they are all there. Loved it!
I enjoyed this book
I enjoyed this book. There was plenty of suspense and it kept me guessing until the very end. It kind of reminded me of the movie "Clue." All of the characters worked well together and I enjoyed the interaction between Ben and Clara. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
Just ok
I choose this book to get in the Christmas spirit, and other than taking place during the 12 days of Christmas it was not a Christmas book. It was more like a short 'who done it' novel. Also the language and phrasing are off, it feels like the author kept forgetting she was writing a story that took place in the 1800s. At moments I enjoyed it but mostly I just felt like rushing through it to just find out who their host was. A super light read for those not looking for super historical accuracy or deep character development.
The title and lovely cover art are by far the best parts of the book.
For me the book has too many unexplained events and too many coincidences most of which are not adequately resolved even by the end. If it had not been a book club selection I would have quit reading early on.
