12. Kyle Bellamy | Bigger Than Me

Kyle Bellamy is a Miami Hurricane. He is a competitor. Kyle Bellamy was a walk-on right handed pitcher at the University of Miami. With plenty of scholarship offers out of high school to mid-tier D1 programs, he took on hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loans for an opportunity to play for the prestigious Hurricanes baseball team.
In his Freshman year, he was faced with being cut from the team when the coach caught him messing around throwing side-armed during warm-ups.
That fateful occasion was the beginning of Kyle’s journey to becoming one of Miami’s all-time saves leader, a two-time All-American, a member of Team USA, and a key part of University of Miami’s 2008 College World Series run.
Kyle went on to play professionally in the Chicago White Sox organization, with realistic expectations of making the major leagues. Long story short, his career was derailed by Tommy John surgery and ultimately he was never the same.
After retiring from baseball and never making “the show,” Kyle parlayed his connections and love for sport to start his career in strength and conditioning with the UM football team.
He is now the Director of Sports Nutrition for the University of Miami football team where he continues to educate, mentor, and lead college athletes.
