It is not uncommon to have enemies, whether peaceful or hostile, simply because we call ourselves Christians ... Christ-followers. From a fleshly standpoint, there are many reactions that we would like to have that we believe would make us feel better, but that's usually not the right decision. Jesus explains in just a few verses how we should treat those who trouble us, and the elements of retribution and personal satisfaction are no where to be found!
