12. Richard Evans on Hobsbawm, conspiracies and the defence of history

Listen Later

In this episode we interviewed a special guest: renowned historian Sir Richard Evans. Evans is among other things famous for his book trilogy on the Third Reich, and his role as an expert witness in the infamous Irving-trial.

Over a video call we talked with him about his two latest publications: One on the life of historian Eric Hobsbawn, the other on conspiracy-theories around Hitler and the Nazi's.

Finally, we reflected with him on the uses and misuses of history today by governments, and the continuing need to stand in defence of our discipline.

At the end of the episode we asked him your own listener-questions.

Enjoy!
