During today's conversation on Scripture & Story, we are continuing in our Story of Redemption Series.
The Bible is one story – one grand narrative. It is God's story of redemption.
In today's episode, we pick up the narrative in Exodus, where God miraculously delivered His people from bondage. This is perhaps the most important story in the Old Testament, so you don't want to miss its implications for us as believers today. Then we follow the Israelites through the wilderness as the receive God's commands, establish the priesthood, and finally come to the edge of the good land God promised them.
But sadly, those same people who had seen miracle after miracle and had been led by the very presence of God, failed to trust that God could give them victory over their enemies in the Promised Land. So God turned them back to the wildness where they wandered until that unbelieving generation died.
But we won't end this episode there. Forty years later a new generation stood at the edge of the Jordan River overlooking the Promised Land, and under Joshua's good leadership, dared to believe God. God gave them a second chance, and He redeemed their story. And He'll redeem yours, sweet friend.
