We are all swimming in an ocean of partisan division. It's everywhere; it's happening in Washington, DC, it's happening at family gatherings, and it's happening inside our organizations. All too often, leaders like us feel we have to batten down the hatches around lines of division by creating an ever-increasing number of rules and regulations that will generate even more division over time.

Playing into division costs us engagement, costs us morale, and it will cost us our corporate culture. But what can we do?

Before becoming CEO of Starts With Us, Tom spent over 12 years building and scaling businesses, audiences, and highly engaged communities at the interface of culture, media, and technology. He was most recently the GM at the video technology company Eko, bringing first-of-their-kind shoppable interactive video experiences to market. Previously, Tom led product strategy for Facebook's original content team and led digital at MTV as SVP Strategy & Operations, amassing a digital community of over 250 million fans globally.

Today, Tom Fishman is the CEO of Starts With Us, of which I am honored to be a founding member. Starts With Us is a non-partisan civic movement to overcome America's bitter culture wars, using media and technology to foster independent thinking, healthier communication, and courageous collaboration across our differences. Starts With Us, was founded by Daniel Lubetzky, who is also the founder of KIND Snacks.
