After 22 years in the US Navy, Sr. Chief Brad Genereux (https://veteransonthecamino.com) retired from the service and returned to a civilian world he no longer recognized. Lost and seeking solace, Brad found peace along the Camino de Santiago. He returned to the United States and founded VETERANS ON THE CAMINO, a non-profit dedicated to helping heroes find healing along the Camino.  Brad’s joins us to discuss his organization, the pain that so many servicemen and women share when returning from the battlefield, and the steps towards healing along the Camino de Santiago on today’s episode of the Sacred Steps Podcast.

GUEST:  Sr. Chief Brad Genereux, US Navy, Retired

As a career military man, Brad Genereux deployed eleven times around the globe. Deployment demons and the uncommon stress of a military life pursued him until Brad confronted the inner darkness stalking his days and nights while walking the Camino de Santiago, a 500-mile pilgrimage in northern Spain. Senior Chief Petty Officer Builder Bradley D. Genereux, United States Navy, retired, is a decorated Operation Enduring Freedom veteran. He spent nine months in Afghanistan with the Ghazni Provincial Reconstruction Team and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal for acts of bravery while under fire. In the Spring and Fall, Brad leads other veterans on the Spanish path to peace.
