Full transcript here 👋 Hey, good morning, good afternoon, good evening. This is your life. This is your chance. Listen.
The word for today is better. When you picture a better toothbrush, what comes to mind? [pause] My bet is that you are thinking of an electric toothbrush, and maybe electric toothbrushes do have the capability to clean teeth more thoroughly. It’s easy to assume, though, that more complex is always better. I’ve mentioned the book, Essentialism, a couple times recently because its central tenet, “Less but better,” can apply to any area of life. With the toothbrush, you can ask, “Would an electric or manual toothbrush help me to move toward ‘less but better?’” You have to answer that question for yourself, but you don’t have to be right the first time. Maintain some humility and grace by being okay with trying again. Find the better option while pursuing less complexity in your life.
Today’s concrete challenge is to clean out a drawer. Use the “less but better” credo to evaluate whether you need the things you are keeping.
If you want to commit, say the following phrase: “I will clean out one drawer today at (blank) o’clock.”
I’ll keep the music playing while you get it done, and don’t miss the soundtrack at the end of this episode.
Before you go, repeat the following soundtrack, “I am the kind of person who is okay with less but better.”
Let me know if this made a difference in your day by leaving a comment in your podcast app or at concrete.win/today.
Check back tomorrow for a new challenge. Until then.
