The Salt Lake Tabernacle was the architectural marvel of the 1800s. Frank Lloyd Wright said it was one of the architectural masterpieces of the world. In just 3 ½ years the Saints scratched the timber, stone, sand and lime of the largest assembly hall in the Americas for the next 50 years. The clear span 150-foot bridge design had skeptics convinced the Tabernacle’s roof would collapse when the interior scaffolding was removed. Held together by rawhide and wooden pegs the huge roof has stood the test of time for more than 150 years. This is an inspiring story.
